Horska Radiology, Jonhs Hopkins Medical Institutions, Baltimore, MD, United States, Kennedy Krieger Institute, Baltimore, MD, United States Purpose Rett Syndrome (RTT) is a neurodevelopmental X-linked disease that affects primarily girls. Clinically, these children are normal at birth and then develop progressive autistic-like behavior, neurodevelopmental delay, with loss of motor skills. Cerebral volume loss in RTT was attributed to be due to a decrease in neuronal cell body size and dendritic arborizations, particularly in cortical gray matter with relative preservation of axons and myelin. However recent neuropathologic studies have suggested axonal involvement and our recent magnetic resonance spectroscopic study has also shown more decreased levels of neuronal marker NAA in cortical white matter than gray matter. The purpose of our study is to investigate the involvement of specific cerebral white matter tracts in Rett patients by using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI).

Fiber Tractography and Diffusion Tensor Imaging in Children with Agenesis and Dysgenesis of Corpus Callosum: A Clinico-Radiological Correlation

Background Corpus callosum is the largest commissure in human brain. It consists of tightly packed white matter tracts connecting the two cerebral hemispheres.  In this study we aimed to evaluate role of fiber tractography (FT), and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in ped...

Diffusion Tensor Imaging for Glioma Grading: Analysis of Fiber Density Index

Introduction: The most common primary tumors of brain are gliomas and tumor grading is essential for designing proper treatment strategies. The gold standard choice to determine grade of glial tumor is biopsy which is an invasive method. The purpose of this study was to investigatethe role of fiber density index (FDi) by means of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) (as a noninvasive method) in glial...

Differentiation of Edematous, Tumoral and Normal Areas of Brain Using Diffusion Tensor and Neurite Orientation Dispersion and Density Imaging

Background: Presurigical planning for glioma tumor resection and radiotherapy treatment require proper delineation of tumoral and peritumoral areas of brain. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is the most common mathematical model applied for diffusion weighted MRI data. Neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging (NODDI) is another mathematical model for DWI data modeling. Objective: We stud...

Evaluation of Soft Tissue Sarcoma Tumors Electrical Conductivity Anisotropy Using Diffusion Tensor Imaging for Numerical Modeling on Electroporation

Introduction: There is many ways to assessing the electrical conductivity anisotropyof a tumor. Applying the values of tissue electrical conductivity anisotropyis crucial in numerical modeling of the electric and thermal field distribution in electroporationtreatments. This study aims to calculate the tissues electrical conductivityanisotropy in patients with sarcoma tumors using diffusion tens...

Diffusion tensor imaging in Joubert syndrome.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Neuropathologic findings and preliminary imaging studies demonstrated the absence of pyramidal tract and superior cerebellar peduncular decussation in individual patients with Joubert syndrome (JS). We hypothesized that functional-structural neuroimaging findings do not differ between the genetic forms of JS. MATERIALS AND METHODS MR imaging was performed with a 3T MR i...
